Jonathan Ankney, Chief Financial Officer

For the last 15 years, Jonathan Ankney, the chief CFO of Small Business CFO, has been working with small businesses and non-profits continually in a variety of financial management functions. Whether by consulting or by working "in the trenches" with business owners, he uses the variety of skills and techniques gained through his broad experience.

Jonathan founded Small Business CFO in 2004 in response to the critical need he saw in in small businesses and non-profit organizations: regardless of development stage, they still needed guidance, accounting services, and financial expertise to thrive. Since incorporating, he has helped over 100 small businesses in areas including financial systems development, forecasting, cash flow management, and payroll.

In addition to financial management work, Jonathan is the financial columnist for Smart Hustle (link) magazine, is an active Toastmaster, and serves on the finance committee of the parish of Calvary-St. George (link) in Manhattan.  He graduated from Binghamton University in 1994 with an MBA in finance and arts administration.

Michelle RichardsonBookkeeper

Michelle joined Small Business CFO in early 2016 after demonstrating her skills by passing SBCFO's Diabolical QuickBooks Assessment© with flying colors.  Her experience here includes entering payrolls, deposits, and bank transactions for clients, assisting with closes, and helping with accounting projects.

Prior to joining the firm, she spent time in sales, running her own business, and managing her home!  She has been an active volunteer in her community, and has a Bachelor of Finance degree from Jacksonville State University.

Larry Bennett is the founder of Bennett Tax and Financial Service, a tax preparation firm serving individuals and small businesses since 1999.  His goal is to make each client’s tax experience—from preparing to paying—as smooth and pain free as possible, at rates that are competitive with high end tax services.  A key part of his success is due to making sure that clients not only pay the minimum amount of tax while being compliant, but also explaining complex tax rules in plain language.

 Larry’s tax work includes preparing corporate tax returns, partnership tax returns and schedules, and at the federal, state, and city levels.
